When parking downhill, whether on a road with or without a curb, or uphill without a curb, the front wheels should be turned toward the road's edge to ensure the vehicle will move away from traffic should the brakes fail. In contrast, when parking uphill on a street with a curb, wheels should be turned towards the street center so that the vehicle would roll into the curb in case of brake failure.
