When a vehicle starts to slip on a slick surface, a driver with an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) should firmly press and hold the brake pedal while steering out of any potential hazard. The ABS will automatically modulate the braking pressure faster than manual attempts. Letting go of the brake or manually pumping it can deactivate the ABS function.
